CEU, MCU GRADUATES TOP OPTOMETRIST EXAM

MANILA Central University and Centro Escolar University were the top-performing schools in the recent Optometrists Computer-Based Licensure Examination, according to the results recently released.

CEU had the most passers with 180 out of 190 takers, while MCU had the top passing rate, going 55-for-55.

CEU, though, had the most topnotchers with seven inside the top 10, led by Dr. Sienna Rose Mabuti who scored 91.16 percent.

Three fellow CEU alumnae in the top five are Dr. Bea Dancel (third, 90.68 percent), Dr. Jehmianne Co (fourth, with 90.63), and Dr. Carla Ignacio (fifth, 90.31)

Other CEU graduates in the top 10 are Dr. Audrey Cajucom (tied for eighth with MCU’s Dr. Denielle Deligero, 89.86 percent), Dr. Alexie Salvador (ninth, 89.68) and and Dr. Jamie Sumido (10th, 89.67).

“Known as the home of board topnotchers, the CEU School of Optometry, led by its dean, Dr. Elena Borromeo, remains the country’s top provider of highly knowledgeable, skilled and globally competitive licensed optometrists,” CEU said in a statement on Tuesday.

Deligero is one of two MCU alumni who made it to the top 10, the other being Dr. Lester Camu, who placed seventh at 89.91 percent.

The other member of the topnotcher list is Cebu Doctors University’s Dr. Joella Borga, who placed sixth at 90.09 percent.

As of posting, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has yet to reveal the No. 2 in the optometrist exam.

“The result of the examination with respect to one examinee was withheld pending submission of the required documents,” the PRC said in a statement.

A total of 393 passed the licensure exam out of 415 takers for a national passing rate of 94.7 percent in the October exam. (PNA)
