CA CONFIRMS ANGARA AS DEPED SECRETARY
THE COMMISSION on Appointments has approved the ad interim appointment of former Sen. Juan Edgardo ‘Sonny’ Angara as secretary of the Department of Education.
Angara has been a senator since 2013 and was supposed to end his second term in 2025.
In his endorsement speech, Senator Raffy Tulfo, chairman of the CA Committee on Education, said Angara will be more than capable of leading the country to a better future through the students that he will take under his wing.
“I look forward to working with you Sec. Sonny and seeing the changes you will be making in the Department of Education,” Tulfo said.
Meanwhile, Senator Loren Legarda described Angara as a man whose brilliance knows no bounds.
“His exceptional track record speaks volumes. He is a man of honor, effectiveness, and excellence,” Legarda said.
Senator Grace Poe, meanwhile, expressed confidence that with the appointment of Angara as Secretary of the Department of Education, the Alagang Angara legacy continues.
“He is a proper gentleman but he can also be the most, as I’ve said, “kanto” boy bully. His sarcasm and dark humor would sometimes get him in trouble, but because of his charisma, he always gets away with it,” Poe said.
