BUDGET FOR NATIONAL CERTIFICATION OF GRADE 12 STUDENTS TO GET SIGNIFICANT INCREASE

/ 8 November 2023

THE funding for the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority’s National Certification of Grades 12 students who have chosen to take the Technical-Vocational-Livelihood track will be increased, Sen. Juan Edgardo Angara said.

In his sponsorship speech for the proposed 2024 national budget, he said that they also pushed for the additional budget for the hiring of some 11,838 assessors that will facilitate the national certifications.

“Naniniwala kami na sa ilalim ng budget initiative na ito ni Vice Chairperson Sherwin Gatchalian matutupad ang hiling sa TESDA ni Senador Raffy Tulfo na paigtingin nila ang kanilang mga certifications para masigurado na ang mga graduates nila ay hindi napupunta sa mga trabaho na mas mababa pa sa minimum wage ang sahod,” he said.

The budgets for the Philippine Qualifications Framework or PQF Secretariat and Tulong Trabaho Fund will also be increased.

The senator confirmed that they gave additional budget for the Senior High School Voucher Program of the Department of Education.

“Sa ilalim ng DepEd, in-augment natin ang SHS Voucher Program para maging mas abot-kaya ang pag-enroll sa mga Senior High School sa mas maraming kabataan,” he said.
