BENGUET STATE UNIVERSITY TO OFFER MEDICINE PROGRAM
THE BENGUET State University will open its Medicine course in 2023 as the construction of its College of Medicine is underway.
In a press conference for its 105th anniversary, BSU President Felipe Comila said the infrastructure and licenses will be completed in mid-2022.
“By the second or third quarter of next year, we will see the light after the tunnel. We will have the full implementation by 2023,” Comila said.
BSU will be the first state university in Cordillera to have a College of Medicine.
Comila said that offering the program will complement an ordinance of the provincial government of Benguet where it will provide a scholarship each from its 13 municipalities to a native student who wants to take Medicine.
“That is 13 doctors every year that will be added to Benguet alone,” the BSU president said.
BSU has also increased slots for its College of Nursing, adding two more sections.
The Nursing program in BSU consistently had a high passing rate in the Nursing Licensure Examinations, maintaining a 100 percent passing rate since 1990.
