ATENEO STILL TOP SCHOOL IN PH IN DELIVERING SDGs

THE ATENEO de Manila University maintained its ranking as one of the world’s best universities for delivering the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals based on the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2024.

The ranking, which measured 2,152 universities from 125 countries, placed the Ateneo in the 201-300 bracket.

The university was highest among the 56 Philippine institutions on the list, with an overall score of 79.3-83.9 out of 100.

In the 2023 and 2021 editions, Ateneo de Manila was also in the 201-300 bracket. The University’s best performance so far was in 2022, when it entered the 101-200 bracket.

The 2024 edition of the THE Impact Rankings saw Ateneo in the top 100 globally in the following SDGs:

• SDG 16: Peace, justice, and strong institutions: Rank 30
• SDG 6: Clean water and sanitation: =32
• SDG 7; Affordable and clean energy: 34
• SDG 14: Life below water: =70
• SDG 1: No poverty: 72

Meanwhile, the University of the Philippines, De La Salle University, and Ifugao State University landed in the Top 401-600 bracket.

THE Impact Rankings are the only global performance tables that assess universities’ adherence to the SDGs. It uses carefully calibrated indicators to provide comprehensive and balanced comparison across four broad areas — research, stewardship, outreach and teaching.

“These leading universities are recognized for their overarching impact across several dimensions of sustainable development, making significant contributions to creating a sustainable and resilient future,” THE said.

“Their broad-based excellence underscores the importance of holistic approaches to global challenges and highlights the critical role of academia in driving sustainable change,” it added.
