ATENEO SHINES IN INT’L MANAGEMENT CONFERENCE

OFFICIALS from Ateneo de Manila University participated in the Academy of Management Conference held in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The Ateneo delegation included Dr. Roberto Martin Galang, Dean of the John Gokongwei School of Management; Joseph Benjamin Ilagan, Program Director of Ateneo BUILD; Dr. Pilar Tolentino, Director of the Ateneo Family Business Development Center; and Dr. Emmanuel Zara Jr.

The first presentation was a paper development workshop on the impact of artificial intelligence on institutionalism, hosted by Joben Ilagan. The panelists included Dr. Xavier Ferràs-Hernández and Dr. Esteve Almirall of ESADE Business School; Dr. Petra Nylund of the University of Stuttgart; and Dr. Robby Galang of Ateneo.

On the following day, Dr. EJ Zara presented his paper on how mindfulness practice enhanced leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the third day, Dr. Pilar Tolentino presented a poster with Dr. Wendy Farrell of X-Culture on optimizing team performance through Gen AI.

During the final session, Dr. Robby Galang presented a paper with Ken Emmanuel Merluza of Ateneo and Ramon Martin Co of Northwestern University on how the American Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines negotiated its treatment as local or foreign firms during the U.S. colonial period and beyond.

This study was nominated for Best Paper by the International Management Division of the Academy of Management.

The Ateneo team also organized the annual gathering of Filipino management faculty and researchers worldwide, co-hosted with Dr. Catherine Midel Deen of the University of New South Wales Canberra and Dr. Simon Restubog, Interim Dean of the School of Labor and Employment Relations at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
