ATENEO EDUCATORS ENDORSE ROBREDO-PANGILINAN TANDEM
MORE than 100 faculty members of Ateneo de Manila University endorsed the candidacy of Vice President Leni Robredo and running mate Senator Kiko Pangilinan.
In a statement, the professors expressed their support to Robredo and Pangilinan, who are running to for the country’s presidency and vice presidency, respectively.
“In response to the call for solemn reflection and critical discernment, we are expressing our collective voice for honesty, truth, and justice,” they said.
Earlier, the Jesuit institution’s Theology Department also issued a similar statement of support.
The educators believed Leni and Kiko will create and forge a society that cares for humanity, is fair just, and is a source of hope.
“As teachers, we have a duty to our students and our country to stand for and advocate honesty, truth, and justice, as our way of giving life to the principles and values that the Jesuits have taught us: to be persons for others, to be persons in solidarity with others, and to be light in the Lord,” they stressed.
“This is our response to the call of the times. This is the cause that we seek to advocate for the betterment of our youth, for the prosperity of our nation, and for the Greater Glory of God,” they added.
Last week, at least 400 professors of the University of Santo Tomas also expressed support to Robredo.
“Leni Robredo has consistently demonstrated exemplary servant leadership by promoting advocacies on life, freedom, justice, and solidarity in the service of the family, community, Church, and the environment,” it said in a statement.
“She has shown genuine compassion for the marginalized through her Angat Buhay programs and has repeatedly shown respect for the dignity of a person regardless of race, religion, age, and gender.”
