ARMY’S NEW OFFICERS TOLD TO PREPARE FOR EMERGING SECURITY THREATS
THE PHILIPPINE Army welcomed 307 new officers from the Officer Candidate Course “Nagdilaab” Class 62-2025 during a graduation ceremony held at the Makabulos Grandstand, Camp O’Donnell in Capas, Tarlac.
Department of National Defense (DND) Undersecretary Irineo C. Espino, the Guest of Honor and Speaker, urged the newly commissioned officers to be prepared for the challenges of modern warfare.
“We live in a volatile and evolving security environment shaped by both traditional and emerging threats. Internal conflicts, external incursions, cyberattacks, disinformation, and climate-related disasters—these threats span land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace. Amid this reality, your role is clear: You are the future defenders of the Comprehensive Archipelagic Defense Concept,” Espino told the graduates.
Highlighting a shift in military strategy, Espino stressed that the new officers are no longer just “soldiers of the land,” but integral components of a joint, interoperable, and whole-of-nation defense approach.
“Your training has given you a vision, but the real learning begins now,” Espino added, reminding the officers that their service must always reflect “professionalism, integrity, and commitment to the dignity of your people.”
Meanwhile, Army Chief Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido lauded the new officers for completing the renewed and revitalized training program, which focuses on developing leadership excellence among future Army leaders.
“While we celebrate this milestone, we also look forward. The initiatives driving the Army today are a testament to our continuing commitment to excellence—ensuring we remain a force that adapts, evolves, and leads with purpose in the face of tomorrow’s challenges,” Galido said.
