EDUCATION Secretary Sonny Angara joined the Philippine Coast Guard at the launch of a comic book that simplifies the complex issues surrounding the West Philippine Sea, making legal concepts more accessible to the youth and the general public.

The comic book, titled The Stories of Teacher Jun, was launched on Friday at the National Library of the Philippines.

“We must show a path for learners on how to protect our national sovereignty in their own way,” Angara said.

He added that the stories of Mga Kwento ni Teacher Jun aim to raise awareness about the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and the landmark 2016 Arbitral Award in favor of the Philippines.

Guests at the book launch included Philippine Coast Guard officials led by Admiral Gil Gavan, members of the diplomatic corps, former Associate Justice Antonio Carpio, National Security Adviser Eduardo Año, and school principals.
