ALMOST one million students have benefited from the Libreng Sakay program of the Light Rail Transit Authority.

“As of yesterday, we have provided free rides for at least 992,000 of our students,” LRTA Administrator Hernando Cabrera said.

He added that an average of 30,000 students get free rides every day.

The LRT stations in Recto, Legarda, Araneta Center-Cubao, Marikina and Antipolo served the highest number of students.

The LRT-2 Free Ride program will continue until November 5.

“Our free ride program for our students would only last until November 5. So far, we have not received any instruction for an extension. We are awaiting that, but we are ready; anytime they say that we would extend the program, we are ready to implement that,” Cabrera said.

Students from nursery to college can get free rides from 5 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday to Saturday.
