NASA kamay na ng Senado ang panukala para sa pagtatayo ng campus ng Polytechnic University of the Philippines sa lungsod ng Caloocan.

Isinumite na ng Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso ang ipinasa nilang House Bill 5739 o ang proposed PUP-Caloocan City-North Campus Act.

Ang panukala na iniakda nina Representatives Dale ‘Along’ Malapitan, Mark Go at Isidro Ungab ay naglalayong mabigyan ang mga residente ng lungsod ng oportunidad para sa dekalidad subalit abot-kayang edukasyon.

“The bill aims not only to address the increasing number of out-of-school children and youth in the region but also operates to fulfill a high constitutional demand,” pahayag ni Malapitan.

“It bears mentioning that in Metro Manila North, also known as the CAMANAVA area, there exists not a single state university or college nor a campus thereof which students of this area may access for their tertiary, professional and technical education,” dagdag pa ng kongresista.

Batay sa panukala, mag-aalok ang PUP-Caloocan City-North Campus ng short-term technical-vocational, undergraduate at graduate courses sa areas of competency at specialization nito alinsunod sa kanilang mandato.

“The PUP-Caloocan City-North Campus is also mandated to undertake research and extension services, and to provide progressive leadership in these areas, including the offering of graduate degrees through open distance learning under the PUP Open University System,” nakasaad pa sa panukala.
