ADU URGES SENATE TO PROCEED WITH VP SARA’S IMPEACHMENT TRIAL
THE ADAMSON University community has issued a strong call for the Senate to promptly proceed with the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, citing the Constitution’s clear mandate for immediate action.
“To our Dear Senators, this is not the time for neutrality or passive observation; this is the time for principled leadership and decisive action. Do what is right—not what is convenient,” the university declared.
“You must immediately commence the impeachment proceedings as mandated by the Constitution. The delay has already gone on for too long.”
In an official statement, the university expressed grave concern over what it described as “efforts to delay, obstruct, or prematurely dismiss” the impeachment process.
Citing Article XI, Section 3(4) of the 1987 Constitution, the statement underscored: “In case the verified complaint or resolution of impeachment is filed by at least one-third of all the Members of the House, the same shall constitute the Articles of Impeachment, and trial by the Senate shall forthwith proceed.”
“This is a clear constitutional directive to act without delay,” the statement emphasized.
“Any hesitation or refusal to proceed undermines this explicit mandate and erodes the foundations of our democratic institutions.
