NAIS ni Anakalusugan Partylist Rep. Michael Defensor na amyendahan ang batas kaugnay sa Adopt-A-School Program upang mas mapalawak ang lugar na sakop nito.

Sa House Bill 9200 o ang proposed Amendatory Act to Improve the Adopt-a-School Program, sinabi ni Defensor na dapat amyendahan ang Republic Act 8525 na isinabatas noon pang February 14, 1998.

Sa kanyang panukala, iginiit ni Defensor na dapat tanggalin sa Section 3 ng batas ang paglilimita sa 20 mahihirap na lalawigan sa ipinatutupad na adopt-a-school program.

“Amendment cures the anachronistic view that help should be sent to schools in the poorest provinces, since the present pandemic has rendered most public schools susceptible to the virus,” pahayag ni Defensor sa kanyang explanatory note.

Nais ding idagdag ni Defensor sa Section 3 ng batas ang probisyon para sa pagbabakuna sa lahat ng estudyante at mga guro laban sa Covid19 at iba pang sakit.

“Amendment 2, notwithstanding Department of Education Order No. 2 Series of 2013 which alredy includes the private sector, improves the language of the main law by specifically citing vaccination as part of the adopt-a-school program,” paliwanag pa ng kongresista.

Iginiit ni Defensor na mas magiging epektibo ang mga batas kung isusunod ito sa kasalukuyang sitwasyon.
