THE ALLIANCE of Concerned Teachers (ACT) has petitioned the House of Representatives to increase the Personnel Economic Relief Allowance (PERA) for government employees to P5,000.

ACT Teachers party-list Rep. Antonio Tinio said the government has the capacity to provide a higher allowance to its workers.

“Kayang-kaya naman ng gobyerno na magbigay ng mas malaki,” Tinio said.

According to ACT, the petition has gathered 320,000 signatures from government employees supporting the proposed increase.

The group said raising the PERA would provide additional financial relief to government workers amid rising living costs.

ACT urged House leaders to consider the petition and support measures that would increase the allowance for government employees.
