THE DEPARTMENT of Education said that 83 percent of all public schools have internet connection.

This means that 39,069 of 47,000 schools are connected to the Internet.

DepEd spokesman Michael Poa said that the agency is looking at existing technology to set up internet connectivity in public schools.

“The usual challenges as to internet connectivity include electrification and availability of providers, especially in last mile schools,” Poa said.

“Hence, aside from exploring available technology, there have also been discussions with DICT (Department of Information and Communications Technology),” he added.

Earlier, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said that his administration aims to provide internet connection to students and teachers especially in remote areas.
