69% OF FILIPINOS SUPPORT MANDATORY ROTC
SENATE President Juan Miguel 'Migz' Zubiri shared a Pulse Asia survey he commissioned which showed that 69 percent of Filipinos are in favor of making Reserve Officer's Training Corps or ROTC mandatory for tertiary and technical-vocational education students.
SENATE President Juan Miguel ‘Migz’ Zubiri shared a Pulse Asia survey he commissioned which showed that 69 percent of Filipinos are in favor of making Reserve Officer’s Training Corps or ROTC mandatory for tertiary and technical-vocational education students.
Based on the documents shared by the Office of the Senate President, the survey was conducted from December 3 to December 7, 2023.
The survey also showed that the majority of the respondents who voted in favor of making ROTC mandatory are from Mindanao followed by Visayas the National Capital Region and balance Luzon.
Meanwhile, Zubiri confirmed that the Senate will prioritize the bill in May believing that more senators are in favor of ROTC.
“Let’s give the bill a chance. We’ll vote on it. Whether it passes or not, but we will prioritize it this coming May before the sine die break,” Zubiri said.
The senate president is also confident that hazing will not take place during ROTC exercises as the country has now strict Anti Hazing Law.
