58 DIED OF HAZING SINCE 1954 – REPORT

SINCE 1954, 58 hazing deaths have been recorded, according to a report.

A report from ABS-CBN Investigative and Research Group said that the figure was based on records of the Supreme Court, Senate, and the House of Representatives.

A student of the Adamson University, John Matthew Salilig, died after being paddled repeatedly during initiation rites in Cavite.

Saliligโ€™s initiation was reportedly conducted by his peers from the Tau Gamma Philippines, the group that also have the highest number of recorded hazing-related deaths with 15.

This is followed by Alpha Phi Omega with six victims.

Schools with the most hazing-related deaths are the University of the Philippines, Philippine Military Academy and the Philippine National Police Academy.
