THE DEPARTMENT of Transportation has announced that students will now enjoy a 50 percent fare discount on the LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 starting Friday, June 20.

The move follows President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s directive to ease the financial burden on students by making transportation more affordable.

The expanded discount also covers postgraduate students and will be available on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays across all train lines.

The DOTr clarified that the promo applies only to Single Journey Tickets and does not cover Beep Cards or Stored Value Tickets.

“Students must purchase their tickets at the station ticket counters to avail of the discount,” the agency added.
