MORE opportunities  await Filipinos in Taiwan after its Ministry of Education opened job vacancies for foreign English teachers and teaching personnel, the Department of Labor and Employment said.

DOLE said the Taiwanese government opened at least 450 teaching positions to foreigners in primary and secondary public schools this year.

The teachers under the program will receive a monthly salary of  NT$62,720 (P115,122.25) and are entitled to various benefits including travel subsidy and health insurance.

The rates, however, will depend on a teacher’s educational attainment.

The Taiwan government said it wants to boost its education sector through the Taiwan Foreign English Teacher Program and achieve its goal of making English its secondary language by 2030.

Eligible applicants should have expertise in speaking English, a bachelor’s degree or higher degree, and no criminal record.

Licenses or teaching credentials are ideal but not required.
