3 FIRMS SEEK EUA FOR COVID JABS FOR KIDS

/ 19 January 2022

THE PHILIPPINE Food and Drug Administration confirmed on Tuesday that three more Covid19 vaccine makers have applied for emergency use authorization to allow their jabs for kids and minors.

FDA officer-in-charge Dr. Oscar Gutierrez said the applications of Covaxin, Sinovac, and Sinopharm are being evaluated.

If approved by the FDA, Guitterez said that Covaxin will be used for those aged 2 to 18; Sinovac will be administered for 3 to 17 years old; and Sinopharm will be regulated for 3 to 17 years old.

“Mayroon tayong mga bakuna na for EUA amendment na makakatulong sa programa ng gobyerno para masiguro natin na sapat ang mga bakuna natin sa hinaharap,” Guttierez said.

“If these three will pass our clinical evaluation and the standards of the FDA, we will have five vaccines for the immediate future,” he said.

The pediatric vaccination began on October 15, 2021.

Vaccines made by Pfizer and Moderna were approved by the FDA for those aged 12 to 17.
