A TOTAL of 21 inmates inside the New Bilibid Prison obtained their college degrees while incarcerated.

The inmates are now degree holders of entrepreneurship, which was done through the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta Extension School inside the NBP’s Medium Security Compound in Muntinlupa City.

UPHS said the Bilibid Extension School is a program that aims to rehabilitate medium risk prisoners through education and skills training and development.

It added this is part of the university’s Corporate Social Responsibility to give inmates an alternative job while living behind bars.

Sixty three other inmates also finished Senior High School under UPHS Delta’s program.

The program was established by University of Perpetual Help Chairman of the Board Dr. Antonio Tamayo in 1985.

The university held its 33rd Commencement Exercises Program for the program last September 9.
