2 NORTHERN MINDANAO UNIVERSITIES TO BE USED AS VACCINATION SITES
TO HELP speed up the country’s inoculation drive, two universities in Northern Mindanao will be used as Covid19 vaccination sites.
The Northern Bukidnon State College in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon and The Governor Alfonso D. Tan College in Tangub City, Misamis Occidental signed an agreement with the Commission on Higher Education on the use of their facilities as vaccination centers.
Raul Alvarez, CHED Region 10 director, said that at least four higher education institutions have expressed interest to become vaccination centers.
Meanwhile, CHED Chairman Prospero de Vera III said at least 40 private and public HEIs were interested to become either vaccination centers or quarantine facilities.
“Schools can only choose either as a vaccination center or a quarantine facility, as these two functions should be operated separately. It depends on the assessment of health experts, school officials and local government units, in identifying if these schools met the standards,” De Vera said.
He added that the country will need more vaccination centers as the government ramps up its inoculation program.
Earlier, 17 colleges and universities, mostly in National Capital Region, offered their facilities as vaccination sites.
