A WEEK after 100 public schools started the pilot run of limited face-to-face classes, 18 private schools resumed onsite learning on Monday, November 22.

The Department of Education selected 20 private schools to conduct in-person classes but Bureau of Curriculum Development Director Jocelyn Andaya confirmed that Singapore School Clark in Mabalacat, Pampanga and Xavier University Senior High School in Cagayan de Oro postponed the implementation of limited physical classes.

“The reason for both deferrals are due to the academic calendar,” Andaya said in a news briefing.

The Education department previously said that 79 private schools nationwide submitted their intent to participate in the pilot run.

Each region was asked to nominate a maximum of three private schools for the resumption of limited F2F classes.

However, because of the community quarantine classification, no private schools were nominated in Region II, Cordillera Administrative Region and Regions IV-A and IV-B.

From the 33 nominated private schools, only 20 were given the green light to hold in-person classes.
