DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte on Saturday filed her certificate of candidacy for reelection.

“I can confirm that Mayor Sara Duterte has filed her Certificate of Candidacy for Mayor of Davao City,” her spokesperson, Liloan, Cebu Mayor Christina Garcia Frasco, said.

Photos of the mayor filing her COC were posted on her Facebook page.

“Thank you to everyone who expressed their support. Many of you do not know me and yet you carry me over your shoulders,” she wrote on Facebook.

“Like the other millions of Filipinos, I share with you the same goal of living a peaceful and prosperous life in our country, today and in the many years to come. I call on everyone to work together for an honest, orderly, and credible elections in May 2022,” she added.

President Duterte, however, said that the mayor will gun for the presidency with Senator Christopher ‘Bong’ Go as her running mate.

“Sara-Go na ‘yan,” the President said.

The Chief Executive said he does not know when Sara will announce her presidential bid.

“Actually, hindi kami nag-uusap ng politika ever since. I would say that I did that (withdrawal of my vice presidential bid) for the better,” he said.

Various groups have urged Sara to run for president, but the mayor said that she will not because of her father’s bid for vice presidency.

On Saturday, the older Duterte announced he was retiring from politics.
