ANGAT BUHAY-Edukasyon, a group composed of professionals and workers in the education sector, pledged one million votes for the tandem of Vice President Maria Leonor ‘Leni’ Robredo and Sen. Francis ‘Kiko’ Pangilinan.

The group launched the “1M for Leni-Kiko and the Education Sector” at the Ateneo de Manila University which was also livestreamed on social media.

ABE lead convener and Ateneo associate professor Gary Devilles explained that the group endorsed Robredo and Pangilinan because of their pro-education platform.

He added that the group is working with groups such as Teachers for Leni, Tutors for Leni and the Alliance of Concerned Teachers to craft an education covenant with the tandem. The covenant will include the promotion of the rights and welfare of teachers and much-needed reforms in the sector.

Groups of educators supporting Robredo’s candidacy that are based in different universities also expressed their commitment to the “1M pledge.”

Devilles said that the ABE will hold more events in the upcoming weeks in preparation for the elections.
