POLITICAL leaders in Batangas province backed the presidential bid of Manila Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso.

Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto on Friday welcomed Domagoso and the Aksyon Demokratiko slate at the convention of local political party One Batangas.

In his speech, Recto recognized the measures adopted by the city government of Manila to curb the spread of Covid19.

The senator praised Domagoso for his “competence, courage, and empathy for ordinary people.”

“Napakaraming problema na haharapin ang ating bayan kaya napakahalaga na tama ang piliin natin na mamumuno sa ating bansa,” he said.

“Ang Batangas, kinikilalang matalinong botante. Walang nananalong Pangulo na hindi nananalo sa Batangas,” he added.

Domagoso urged Batangueños to give him a chance, stressing that he would focus on “serving the people and not political foes.”

“Ang tunay na kalaban ng tao ngayon ay ang pandemya.” Domagoso said.

Five out six Batangas district representatives are members of One Batangas, including all 12 provincial board members and most of the province’s mayors, vice mayors and councilors.

In 2019, the entire province had 1.7 million registered voters.
