PRESIDENTIAL aspirant Ka Leody de Guzman aired his disappointment with the central bank decision to issue new P1,000 bills.

De Guzman deplored the move to change the design, replacing heroes with the Philippine eagle.

BSP Governor Benjamin Diokno said that the new design will focus on featuring Philippine flora and fauna.

Diokno said that the design was approved by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, BSP’s Monetary Board, and the Office of the President.

“Parang ang balak ay malawakang brainwashing kasabay ng pagmumudmod ng isang libo sa bawat botante,” De Guzman wrote on Twitter on Tuesday.

“Nakakabahala din ang kawalan ng pagkilala sa ating mga martir na lumalaban sa pananakop ng mga dayuhan, [lalo na] sa panahong umiigting ang banggaan ng Tsina at Estados Unidos sa Silangang Asya,” he added.
