YOUTH GROUP: REORIENT EDUCATION SYSTEM

/ 13 June 2023

THE KABATAAN Party-list reiterated its call to reorient the education system to make it truly nationalist, scientific and mass-oriented to unleash the potential of the youth.

The youth organization stressed that education is essential in honing the youth and in how they will defend the national sovereignty and their future.

The organization reiterated its opposition to the Mandatory Reserved Officers Training Corps in the tertiary level.

It stressed the need to allow the youth to choose how they will serve the nation.

“Nationalism is not imposed, but learned through a deep understanding of our common social reality and history as Filipinos,” it said.

To commemorate the country’s Independence Day on Monday, the group, along with various youth organizations and sectors, held protest rallies in front of the Chinese Consulate and the US Embassy to assert freedom and democracy.

“Due to the unsevered colonial ties serving the mutual interest of ruling business compradors and landlords and their partner parasitic foreign monopolies, we have not escaped the claws of imperialist exploitation and wars,” the group said.

“This is more true now as imperial powers and their monopolies, like the US and China, are pushed by global economic crisis to mark their neocolonial territories, especially their dominance over our country as a strategic chess piece,” it added.
