XAVIER UNIVERSITY OPENS DOORS TO TYPHOON ODETTE VICTIMS
THE XAVIER University-Ateneo de Cagayan opened its doors to provide shelter to 25 families affected by Typhoon Odette.
Led by Director for Student Social Involvement and Advocacy Program Nestor Banuag and CSG President Andre Robert Daba, XU provided food packs and bottled mineral water in coordination with the city’s Social Welfare and Development.
The school also provided breakfast for the evacuees through the collective efforts of companions from the Office of Mission and Ministry.
On Monday, the Department of Social Welfare and Development said that 1.8 million people were affected by the typhoon.
Almost half a million sought refuge in evacuation centers.
Reports said that hard-hit areas remain without electricity and internet.
The Department of Public Works and Highways reported that dozens of roads remain closed.
