XAVIER SCHOOL PARTNERS WITH SEP, ACEN TO OPERATE ON 100% RENEWABLE ENERGY
THE XAVIER School has partnered with Shell Energy Philippines and ACEN to shift to 100% renewable energy in its San Juan and Nuvali campuses.
A signing ceremony between key officials of the school and two companies was held last month.
Xavier said the move to more sustainable practices has been a mandate of the school since 2013, taking inspiration from Pope Francis’s encyclical Laudato Si.
“Through these partnerships and other environmental initiatives, Xavier School hopes to fulfill its role of being a steward of Mother Earth,” it said.
“The entire school community is encouraged to continue working together and find ways to always take care of God’s creation for the sake of future generations,” it added.
Environmental advocacy in the two campuses includes the banning of PET-bottled drinks on campus, proper waste segregation, and the use of reusable materials for daily food consumption and office operations.
The schools’ Science curriculum strives to highlight environmental issues as well.
“With the shift to renewable energy and plans to install solar panels at Xavier’s campuses, Xavier hopes to promote the ecological conversion that is so essential to forming persons for others who have the consciousness and the commitment to take care of the environment,” the school said.
