VSU ENTERS 2026 QS WORLD UNIVERSITY RANKINGS

/ 13 November 2025

THE VISAYAS State University has achieved a historic milestone with its first-ever inclusion in the 2026 QS World University Rankings.

VSU President Dr. Prose Ivy Yepes described the recognition as a “meaningful step for the region,” reflecting years of sustained effort to raise academic and research standards.

“With this recognition, VSU is in a stronger position to connect with institutions across Asia and beyond,” she said.

VSU is the only university from Eastern Visayas to make the list, placing within the 1101–1200 band globally and ranking 173rd in Southeast Asia.

The university earned its highest marks in academic reputation (rank 401+ with a score of 20.6), citations per paper (rank 501+ with a score of 21.7), and faculty–student ratio (rank 501+ with a score of 16.2).

In 2023, VSU retained its QS Stars 3-Star rating, affirming its growing visibility and credibility in research and graduate employability. The university also continues to appear in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, where it ranks within the 1001–1500 bracket overall and performs strongly under SDGs 5, 9, 16, and 17.

Another notable achievement is the inclusion of VSU’s scientific journal, Annals of Tropical Research, in Scopus—one of the world’s leading databases for peer-reviewed research—further enhancing the global reach of studies in tropical science and sustainable development.
