THE VISAYAS State University—Main Campus will offer Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy starting next school year.

The program will be the second four-year degree course offered by the Department of Liberal Arts and Behavioral Sciences of the College of Arts and Sciences.

VSU will be the first non-sectarian educational institution in Eastern Visayas to offer the new program.

Dr. Jett C. Quebec, DLABS head, said that the initial curriculum design focused on agricultural philosophy to align it with VSU’s unique context, but it was redesigned following the recommendation of the Commission on Higher Education.

Quebec expressed hope that incoming freshmen will be interested in taking the new program.

The university also plans to offer a four-year degree in Literature.

“The next project for DLABS is to offer AB Literature. It is important for us to have a venue for our literary minds, especially that in Leyte, there is yet to be an institution to offer this degree program. And our pool of faculty members in our department are currently specializing in this discipline.” Quebec said.

The next school year will begin in August 2022.
