VISAYAS STATE U TO BUILD 29 NEW CLASSROOMS

/ 22 February 2024

IN ANTICIPATION of the influx of new students, the Visayas State University is set to build 29 new classrooms on its main campus in Baybay City.

A 21-classroom building is set to rise in VSU, which will be built by the Department of Public Works and Highways and was funded by Congress.

According to VSU, the project has a budget of P80 million, which will be done in two phases and will commence in June 2024.

It has an initial budget of P135 million for its initial proposal for a 40-classroom building, but was cut in half due to budget constraints, VSU said.

Another building which will have eight classrooms will also be constructed in the university worth P10 million, which will be funded by the university and will start construction by March 2024.

“Each of these 29 classrooms can accommodate around 40-50 students,” VSU said.
