THE VISAYAS State University announced its plan to offer a Master of Science in Nursing program over the weekend.

The decision was made after the university’s College of Nursing consistently obtained a 100 percent passing rate in licensure examinations for four years in a row.

The move will help address the growing needs of the region for skilled nurses who have advanced knowledge in the field.

“It’s high time that we offer an MS in nursing because the quality of our instruction has already been well established. We have sufficient professors who have advanced degrees and we also have the needed laboratory and equipment to complement our faculty strength,” CoN Dean Joel Rey Acob said as posted on the university website.

VSU added the offering of the program will be the first in the province of Leyte.

The university also said college officials are now doing the paperwork in accordance with the policies set by the Commission on Higher Education.

At the same time, it is also conducting a feasibility study on whether there is an available target clientele.

VSU added the CoN is confident to accomplish the feat by October 2022.
