VISAYAS STATE U ALUMNA TO PURSUE MASTER’S DEGREE IN YALE UNIVERSITY

AN ALUMNA of the Visayas State University will pursue her graduate studies in Yale University in the United States this year.

Aira Mae Tingzon Gavan will take up Master of Environmental Management program.

Gavan was selected as one of the scholars of YSE’s Three Cairns Climate Scholarship for the Global South, a grant given to qualified students who demonstrate strong potential to advance climate solutions from the Global South.

She will receive full support for her tuition needs, access to non-tution resources, funding for summer internships, mentoring partnerships with YSE alumni and career development opportunities and counseling.

Gavan graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2022.

She was also a scholar of the Department of Science and Technology and was active in several organizations at VSU such as the College of Forestry and Environmental Science Supreme Student Council and the Terrestrial and Aquatic Restorations by Students Immersed in Environmental Reforms.

Currently, Gavan is working at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region VIII office as a monitoring and evaluation officer.

“Basically, I am a technical writer for the Socio-Economic Reports and the consolidated reports of the People’s Organizations granted with a Community-Based Forest Management-Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program Projects in Region VIII,” she said.
