VIETNAMESE SCHOOL LEADERS ATTEND INNOTECH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

/ 9 August 2023

TWELVE school directors, deputy directors and selected teachers from Vietnam gathered in the Philippines to participate in the Southeast Asian School Leadership Program hosted and facilitated by INNOTECH.

School leaders of the Ba Dinh Education District of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam will attend the program that will end on August 13, 2023.

The SEA-SLP aims to help school administrators develop an action plan to improve their respective schools. This complements the national commitment of the Vietnamese MOET to transform education and ensure the resilience of the education system amid uncertainties and
challenges.

The participants will develop an action plan highlighting the improvements that they will introduce in their respective schools based on what they have learned from the program.

In her welcome message, INNOTECH Center Director and former Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones recognized Vietnam as one of the best schooling systems in the region.

“As SEA neighbors, we have so much shared culture and experience. Through this School Leadership Program, we will train the participants in what we have done well while also learning from them, how they have achieved their outstanding performances in education,” Briones said.

Le Thi Minh Hue, vice principal of Nguyen Cong Tru Secondary School and team leader of the Vietnamese delegation, thanked INNOTECH for making the leadership program possible.

“We would like to ensure our active participation to contribute to the success of this program, as well as our future cooperation programs,” Hue said.

Throughout the nine-day course, the participants will discuss competencies of school leaders such as strategic thinking, instructional leadership, management, stakeholder engagement, and personal excellence. The program will also give an opportunity for the Vietnamese school heads to benchmark the strategies and innovations, including teacher and learner development initiatives being adopted by selected schools in the Philippines.

“We need school leaders who will transform education for the new generation. The real essence of leadership is when a leader pays attention to the needs of the team and work in the direction to fulfill those needs,” said Kochakorn Acidre, INNOTECH deputy director.
