USTP, DOST-PCAARRD LAUNCH P5-M AGRICIRCLE PROJECT

/ 24 January 2026

THE UNIVERSITY of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) has secured a P5-million grant from the Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD) to roll out a digital platform aimed at strengthening urban and peri-urban agriculture in Metro Cagayan de Oro.
The partnership was formalized through a memorandum of agreement signed earlier this year at the USTP Cagayan de Oro campus, led by USTP System President Dr. Ambrosio B. Cultura II and DOST-PCAARRD Executive Director Dr. Reynaldo V. Ebora.
Dubbed AgriCircle, the project will develop a web-based portal that brings together farmers, buyers, agricultural input sellers, and support institutions from government and academe into a single online ecosystem.
The initiative seeks to enhance the region’s hyperlocal food system by improving coordination, market access, and information sharing among stakeholders across the agricultural value chain.
AgriCircle is led by EnP Angelie Azcuna Collera and implemented by a multidisciplinary team of experts in agriculture, information technology, electronics communication, and youth farming.
“The participation of USTP faculty underscores their commitment to maintaining high academic standards and fostering instructional excellence,” the university said.
