UST STUDENT WINS IN ASIA YOUNG DESIGNER AWARDS 2020
A STUDENT of the University of Santo Tomas won in the Architecture category of the 2020 Asia Young Designer Awards.
Napoleon Marion Clarke Mui won the silver award in the annual design competition organized for architecture and interior design students by Nippon Paint.
For his project Estero Recycling Hub, he used community participation, innovation, and architecture to bring a positive impact to the residents of his target community, the Estero de la Reina in Manila.
“The community-scale recycling center encourages a sustainable recycling system from the local garbage, which would then be a source of livelihood for the locals,” UST said of the project.
Mui is a fourth year student of the College of Architecture. He was mentored by architect Maria Lourdes Rigunay.
Meanwhile, the Gold Award in Interior Design went to Maita Hagad and silver went to Lauren Ghenrich Khoo, both from De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde.
