UST SHINES IN 8TH STUDENT QUILL AWARDS

UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas reaped 21 awards in four categories of the 8th Student Quill Awards.

The International Association of Business Communicators made the announcement over the weekend on its Philippine website.

UST Tiger Media Network, the official broadcasting arm of the university, won five awards for its entries on communication and social media programs.

“Operating under the supervision of the Communications Bureau, TMN produces content through Tiger TV with the use of internet protocol television and through Tiger Radio, the university’s e-radio airing via Mixlr,” UST said.

On the other hand, The Varsitarian, the school’s award-winning official student publication, won eight awards.

It received citations for its 21st Inkblots, 5th UST National Campus Journalism Awards, V-Sports infographics and V-Exclusives, among others.

Likewise, the UST Minecraft team bagged an award for its recreation of the university’s 21.5-hectare campus in the sandbox video game.

UST-Angelicum College also produced four winning entries including the short film ‘Playground’, personal documentaries ‘Raketera’ and ‘Family Picture’, and a music video against mental health stigma titled ‘Speak Up!’

The Philippine Quill and the Philippine Student Quill Awards honor exemplary communication research, programs, skills, and creative work.

IABC determined the entries through its global standards that measure the brightest and sharpest in the communication industry.
