UST SECURES TWO-YEAR GRANT FOR STUDY ON CATHOLIC CHRISTIANITY IN PH

RESEARCHERS from University of Santo Tomas recently secured a two-year research grant from an international non-governmental organization.

The researchers are from the Center for Theology, Religious Studies, and Ethics and the Research Center for Social Sciences and Education.

Leading the project are Prof. Pablito Baybado and Prof. Florence Navidad, with Assoc. Prof. Allan Basas, Asst. Prof. Philip Fuentes, Assoc. Prof. Marites R. Redoña, Fr. Vladimir Echalas, Head of the CBCP Research Office, serving as Research Associates.

Fr. Louie Coronel, UST Secretary General, and Prof. Joel C. Sagut will serve as consultants for the project titled Assessing the Current Landscape of Catholic Christianity in the Philippines: Towards Synodality.

It aims to provide an overview of the state of Catholic Christianity in the country, focusing on communion, participation, and mission, while acknowledging both its positive and negative facets.

The research team presented their project to the President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines Most Rev. Pablo Virgilio David, and the representative of the funding organization Charles Bertille during a meeting last week.
