UST PROFS PUBLISH RESEARCH ON BLENDED LEARNING
A GROUP of researchers from the University of Santo Tomas recently published a study investigating the use of blended learning in college.
Asst. Prof. Ronaldo Cabauatan, Prof. Chin Uy, Asst. Prof. Ronaldo Manalo, and RCSSEd Director Belinda D.V. de Castro of the university’s Research Center for Social Sciences and Education
Published the paper entitled “Factors Affecting Intention to Use Blended Learning Approach in the Tertiary Level: A Quantitative Approach in the Scopus-indexed journal Higher Education for the Future, Volume 8, Issue 2.”
Cabauatan, Manalo, and De Castro are faculty members of the College of Commerce and Business Administration, while Uy is a professorial lecturer at the UST Graduate School.
“The paper looked into the perceptions of faculty members of a comprehensive Philippine university and documented aversions to the blended learning approach due to the amount of time needed for preparing materials, checking online submissions, and communicating with students,” UST said.
The researchers argued that more opportunities for instructors to use the blended learning approach “will help them realize the importance of their role and that of the technology for the success of blended learning.”
