UST PROFS APPOINTED AS MEMBERS OF TWG ON CPA LICENSURE EXAM
SEVERAL faculty members of the University of Santo Tomas’ Alfredo M. Velayo College of Accountancy were appointed as members of the Professional Regulatory Board of Accountancy’s Technical Working Group on the Certified Public Accountants Licensure Examination Enhancement Project.
The TWG members took their oath on December 18, 2023.
UST-AMV dean Dr. Patricia Empleo was appointed as Chair of the TWG on Business Environment and Concepts, while Assistant Dean Francisco M. Caliwan, Jr. and Assoc. Prof. Antonio Dayag was appointed as a member of the TWG on Financial Accounting and Reporting.
Moreover, Asst. Prof. Enrico Tabag and Atty. Tristan L. Lopez were appointed as members of TWG on Tax Compliance and Planning, while Inst. Francisco Villamin, Jr. was appointed as a member of the TWG on Auditing and Attestation.
“The TWG is tasked to revise the syllabi and table of specifications of the Philippine CPALE and align it with the examination given by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants,” UST said.
“Currently, the AICPA examination is comprised of two modules called core and discipline,” it added.
The core module contains three compulsory parts (courses): Auditing and Attestation, Financial Accounting and Reporting, and Regulation.
The discipline module contains three optional parts (courses): Business Analysis and Reporting, Information Systems and Control and Tax Compliance and Planning.
Philippine examinees will take all six. The AICPA-based examination is set to be given starting the October 2028 CPALE.
