A PROFESSOR of the University of Santo Tomas won the top prize in the 2022 Timpalak Mario I. Miclat organized by the Filipinas Institute of Translation.

Assistant Professor Alvin Ringgo was recognized for his Filipino translation of Natsume Soseki’s classic Japanese novel titled “Kokoro.”

Reyes’ full text translation will be available in 2023.

The competition aims to give importance to Asian Literature and ensures that some of the monumental literary works are translated to Filipino.

The best translation will receive the award that honors the celebrated writer, translator, and educator, the late Mario I. Miclat.

Reyes is a faculty member of the Department of Filipino and was a researcher at Research Center for Social Sciences and Education.
