UST LAUNCHES BOOK ON PUBLIC AND SOCIAL MISSION OF HIGHER EDUCATION
THE UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas’ Center for Continuing Professional Education and Development launched a book on public and social mission of higher education.
The book “Journeying with Communities: A Community Engagement and Organizing Handbook for University Extension Workers” highlights the public and social mission of higher education through community engagement.
The book was produced under the Commission on Higher Education’s Revised and Expanded Guidelines for Continuing Professional Education Grants.
It emphasizes the importance of Participatory Action Research and Community Organizing for Community Development.
UST Vice Rector Rev. Fr. Isaias D. Tiongco said that the book has a “noble purpose of advancing and improving the condition and situation of the human person and communities, the mission that every Catholic university strives to attain.”
He praised the center for finishing the projects amid the health crisis.
