UST INSTRUCTOR ELECTED AS PRESIDENT OF NAT’L CPAs IN EDUCATION ASSOCIATION
AN instructor from the University of Santo Tomas was elected president of the National Association of CPAs in Education.
Francisco Caliwan, Jr. will occupy the post from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024.
Caliwan is the assistant dean of the UST Alfredo M. Velayo College of Accountancy.
He vowed to create projects that will improve the delivery of accountancy education in the Philippines.
He also promised to establish focused groups that will study the declining passing rate of the CPA licensure examination; review the alignment of the senior high school curriculum, the BSA curriculum, the LECPA syllabi and the competency requirements for entry-level CPAs and design a model internship program for accounting students and immersion program for accounting teachers.
Caliwan similarly pledged to spearhead a series of dialogues between the accountancy regulators and accountancy school administrators to establish open and constant communications between various stakeholders.
He vowed to decentralize the operations of the association by constituting ACPAE regional chapters.
