UST DEGREE PROGRAMS GET BOOST AS ASEAN AUN-QA ACCREDITS FOUR MORE COURSES
FOUR more undergraduate programs of the University of Santo Tomas were accredited by the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations University Network-Quality Assurance.
The accreditation placed the programs at par with the education standards set by quality universities in the ASEAN region.
The four programs are BA Communication, BA Journalism, BS Hospitality Management with specializations in Hospitality Leadership and Culinary Entrepreneurship, and BS Tourism Management with specializations in Travel Operation and Service Management and Recreation and Leisure Management.
“The assessment looked into how the program is being delivered, as envisioned in the University’s and programs’ vision, mission, goals, objectives, and outcomes, and how these are realized through the manpower and material resources provided by the University,” UST said.
“The multi-stakeholder consultations included in the assessment proper involved University officials, the academic staff, the support personnel, students, alumni, and employers,” it added.
With the new recognition, eighteen of the school’s bachelor’s programs now have the AUN-QA’s nod.
The first fourteen programs are BS Accountancy, BS Biochemistry, BS Biology, BS Chemical Engineering, BS Chemistry, Bachelor of Elementary Education, BS Electronics Engineering, BS Medical Technology, BS Nursing, BS Occupational Therapy, BS Physical Therapy, BS Psychology, and Bachelor of Secondary Education.
AUN-QA is a group of Chief Quality Officers appointed by the AUN member universities.
It acts as the focal point for coordinating activities to harmonize educational standards and seeking continuous improvement of academic quality of universities in ASEAN.
