UST BIOLOGY STUDENTS WIN IN INTERCOLLEGIATE MEDICAL QUIZ BEE

BS BIOLOGY students from the University of Santo Tomas won the top prize in a national intercollegiate quiz bee held recently at the University of the Philippines-Los Baños, edging out 12 participant schools.

The team composed of Medical Biology majors Von Nivo de Leon, Joe Anthony Manzano and Jemillano Ordoñez Jr. were hailed as champions at the 10th National Intercollegiate Genetics Quiz Bee held on November 21 to 22.

The team was coached by Russell Evan Venturina and Irvin Rondolo.

Meanwhile, teams from the Ateneo de Manila University and University of San Carlos won first-runner up and second-runner up, respectively.

The National Intercollegiate Genetics Quiz Contest is open to undergraduate students with a background in Genetics.

This year’s competition participants were the University of Santo Tomas, Ateneo de Manila University, Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Batangas State University, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, De La Salle University Dasmariñas, Pangasinan State University, Silliman University, University of Eastern Philippines, University of San Carlos, University of the Philippines-Manila, Visayas State University, and Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan.
