USJ-R TO HOST 70 SCHOLARS OF FRENCH NGO

/ 23 August 2023

THE UNIVERSITY of San Jose Recoletos in Cebu City will host 70 scholars of Passerelles Numeriques Philippines who will study computer technology during the first semester of Academic Year 2023-2024.

An agreement was recently signed between officials of USJ-R and PNPH to formally start the initiative.

USJ-R said the scholars are underserved Filipino youth from Visayas and Mindanao. They were chosen from over 2,000 applicants from public senior high schools in Regions 6, 7, 8, and 10.

The scholars will study Associate in Computer Technology, a two-year diploma program.

“We find USJ-R very accommodating and aligned with our programs and thrusts in PN (Passerelles Numeriques),” PNPH Representative Malou Flores said.

University President Eduardo Celiz Jr. hoped that the partnership be renewed after his term so USJ-R could extend its expertise to underprivileged yet deserving students.

Aside from the Philippines, the French non-government organization has centers in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Madagascar.

Its thrust is to provide education-to-employment opportunities to disadvantaged youth through quality IT education.
