THE UNIVERSITY of Southeastern Philippines said that it approved 503 requests for information as of March 31 in compliance with the Freedom of Information law.

USEP said that out of the 536 requests since July 2017, only 26 were denied.

Five others were referred to another agency, while one was closed because the party failed to provide necessary information to process the request.

USEP said that the FOI law requires government agencies and institutions to be transparent and provide the public the information they need as long as it does not compromise security.

It added that this is also part of the university’s commitment towards good governance, accountability, and transparency.
