USC STUDENTS WIN BIG IN PUREGOLD CINEPANALO FILM FEST
FINE Arts students of the University of San Carlos in Cebu City bagged three major awards for their short film at the recent Puregold Cinepanalo Film Festival held last week in Quezon City.
First-year Cinema major Reutsche Colle Lima directed the short film “Tiil ni Lola”, which garnered a total of 12 nominations.
“The success of ‘Tiil ni Lola’ highlights the dedication and hard work of the students involved in its production,” USC said.
“From the stellar editing by Nyle Bacolod, Reutsche Lima, and Elj Tababa to the soul-stirring original song ‘Balik,’ composed by Ethan Gipanao and his band Espresso, the film exemplifies the creative synergy fostered within the Department of Fine Arts,” it added.
Meanwhile, Lima received an award for responsible filmmaking. She was also awarded the Mowelfund Filmmaking Scholarship.
“Her nomination for Best Director also further highlighted the caliber of talent fostered within USC’s Cinema program,” the university said. On top of these awards, she was also awarded a Mowelfund Filmmaking Scholarship.

“Tiil ni Lola” has extended its screening until March 26, 2024, at the Gateway Cineplex.
